Lent: Delight in the Lord - Josh Garrels

During the season of Lent, we seek to practice greater self-control and self-denial. It’s not a command in Scripture, but a traditional practice started by the medieval church. But many people forget that Lent is about addressing our biggest and most fundamental problem: our lack of love for God. We think Lent is about giving up chocolate, Netflix, or social media. The bigger problem is that we give God little thought. We love ourselves too much.

This song by Josh Garrels reminds us how difficult it is to get our whole soul to delight in the Lord. So for this lenten season, I would like to encourage you to listen to his song and ask God to supernaturally change your heart so that you would worship him. Remember it’s not a season of personal improvement. We need grace to change. Only when gospel grips our hearts and we gain a sense of God’s infinitely costly sacrifice will our inner desires and thoughts will be transformed.
